Operational Results 1st Half of 2017

In the first 6 months of 2017 the transshipment of cargo via Giurgiulesti International Free Port increased by almost 12% in comparison to the same period of prior year reaching 325.500 tons in 2017. 55% of the total bulk cargo transshipments volumes consisted of the export of Moldovan grain, oil seeds, and vegetable oil. So far 38% of total bulk cargo transshipments cca. 123.000 tonnes consisted of mineral oil products, which represents an increase of 14% comparing to the same period of prior year. Grain, oil seeds and vegetable oil were primarily delivered by maritime vessels from Giurgiulesti to European Union countries located in the Mediterranean area. Mineral oil products were mostly delivered to Giurgiulesti by maritime vessels from the Black Sea, as well as by river barges and via the European railway network from Romania. Apart from the export of agricultural goods and the import of oil products, Giurgiulesti International Free Port is also frequently used for the import of construction material, soda ash, coal, pet-coke and agricultural machinery.

Danube Logistics (DL) has widened its transshipment portfolio. Since the beginning of the year DL carried out for the first time transshipment of Dried distiller’s grains with solubles (DDGS) and molasses at the premises of its Container and General Cargo Terminal.
