  • 14.05.2026

AmCham Moldova participated in the public consultation meeting organized by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Moldova on environmental taxes and payments.

During the discussions, the business community drew attention to the risk of significant increases in environmental payments, the overlap with existing obligations, and the need to correlate the proposed new taxes with already applicable mechanisms, including extended producer responsibility (EPR) and existing environmental systems.

At the same time, AmCham Moldova emphasized the importance of:

  • introducing adequate transition periods;
  • applying rates and obligations gradually;
  • clarifying the tax calculation methodology;
  • aligning the proposed mechanisms with European Union practices, including those related to the carbon tax and payments for emissions.

The business community reaffirms its openness to constructive dialogue and to identifying balanced solutions that support both environmental objectives and economic competitiveness, while ensuring predictability for investments.
