AmCham Moldova and the Moldovan Banks Association Addresses Moldovan Leadership regarding FATCA

  • 25.04.2014

This week, AmCham Moldova, in conjunction with Moldovan Banks Association, addressed a letter to Moldovan leadership urging them to sign the Intergovernamental FATCA Agreement and to initiate the process of amending domestic regulations in the area of data protection and banking secrecy in order to create the relevant legal framework for local financial institutions to comply with FATCA provisions, thus avoiding the 30% withholding tax.

*FATCA is a new US law that requires financial institutions to file reports with the Internal Revenue Service on American taxpayers, regardless of where they are located in the world, or face punitive penalties. The rules affect banks and some other financial institutions operating in Moldova.

Urgentarea procedurii de modificare şi completare a cadrului legal ce ar permite implementarea a prevederilor FATCA
