Healthcare Committee members met on May, 17 with the representative of the Global Fund, Mr. Diyarov Kamoliddin.

The Global Fund is a unique global public/private partnership dedicated to attracting and disbursing additional resources to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. This partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and affected communities represents a new approach to international health financing. The Global Fund works in close collaboration with other bilateral and multilateral organizations to supplement existing efforts dealing with the three diseases.

In 2010 the Government of the Republic of Moldova has signed an agreement granting privileges and immunities to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The agreement will enable the Global Fund to work more effectively in the country. It is the first country to sign an Agreement on Privileges and Immunities with the Global Fund.

Currently, Global Fund is assessing the effectiveness of the developed programmes in Moldova, and analyzing the possibility of offering another grant for Moldova for the next 3 years. The points that were discussed at the meeting with the AmCham Committee Members were related to the activity of the Healthcare Committee, especially its cooperation with the authorities while drafting laws and regulations and the Committee plans for the next year related to the Healthcare and CSR.

By this meeting, Healthcare Committee members and the representative of the Global Fund had the chance to exchange valuable information regarding the healthcare system in Moldova.
