This week, as a member of the Prime minister's Economic Council, AmCham was actively engaged in several subjects:

The Implementation of Investment Policies Roadmap

AmCham Moldova, along with IFC and other business associations, had discussions regarding the implementation of investment policies roadmap. The roadmap outlines the main actions for attracting and maintaining private investments in the Republic of Moldova.

The Sanctions System Reform in the Economic Field

On October 19, following the last meeting on the subject, the Ministry of Justice has proposed a draft law in order to in order to liberalize multiple provisions of the Criminal Code related to economic crimes and entrepreneurship.

Regulatory Framework for Co-incineration and Incineration of Waste

Last week, AmCham along with member companies and business associations have raised concerns regarding the necessity to review the actual legal framework and draft a Regulation regarding the possibility to co-incinerate and incinerate waste.

The Sanctions System Reform in the Economic Field

AmCham and other business representatives pointed at the current state of criminal sanctions for economic crimes. In this, participants have expressed concerns that the legislative framework covers a broad range of activities as criminal violations, providing leeway for abuses from prosecuting authorities. In order to provide more certainty for business community, the sanctions system should be reviewed to ensure a shift from measures that limit the entrepreneurs’ freedom and rights towards pecuniary sanctions and recovery of any caused damages.
