The “Meet the Candidate” Business Cocktail is designed to introduce Candidates running for Board Member positions. Candidates have the opportunity to present their grounds for wanting to serve on The Board of Directors and to answer questions from other members and guests regarding their ideas and prospects for the further development and expansion of AmCham`s successful operations in Moldova.

The Annual General Member Meeting (AGM) is one of the most significant and highly-awaited events of AmCham. The AGM brings together all of AmCham’s members to participate in the BODs elections and to establish the development strategy and direction of AmCham activities for the upcoming year.

U.S.Business Mission to Moldova

U.S. BUSINESS MISSION TO MOLDOVA


A delegation of more than 15 U.S. companies is part of U.S. Business Mission to Moldova was held on April 11-12, in Chisinau. Business Delegation represented companies from energy, agribusiness, information technology, construction, and other fields and was looking for opportunities to invest and to seek business agreements in Moldova.

Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan welcomed the delegation, telling the group that he stood ready to help advance U.S. commercial and investment activity in Moldova.

The event was organized by U.S. Embassies' Commercial Service in Moldova, Romania & Ukraine in cooperation with AmCham Moldova, Ministry of Economy, Chamber of Commerce & Industry of RM.



USA INDEPENDENCE DAY


AmCham Moldova celebrated the 243rd US Independence Day, together with its members, partners and U.S. Embassy representatives. The atmosphere was filled with crowds of friends, the sound of live music, the smell and taste of the best American grill, dancing, games, and competitions. The AmCham Independence Day celebration is a unique blend of the finest traditions to celebrate the gift of freedom.

Thanksgiving, a quintessentially American holiday, is about celebrating community, whether with family or friends. AmCham Moldova celebrated Thanksgiving Day within the AmCham community and with its partners, honored by the presence of H.E. Dereck J. Hogan, US Ambassador to Moldova.

AmCham Members and partners had a wonderful opportunity to meet and celebrate the success of AmCham Moldova in 2019. AmCham continued to work closely with business leaders and the Moldovan Government in a wide range of activities that included participation in legislative reforms, direct support for our member companies and much more, all of which is intended to foster a more favorable business climate in Moldova for foreign trade and investment.



COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: AMCHAM CHRISTMAS BOX


AmCham Moldova in cooperation with DHL Moldova rounded up the AmCham Christmas Box initiative by delivering the wonderful presents donated by member company staff to children from vulnerable families and kids from orphanage in Strașeni. A second orphanage in Briceni also received donated goods and presents. The countless range of goods, varying from sweet Christmas treats to exciting new toys, clothes were donated by 20 of AmCham’s Member companies.
AmCham would like to express its sincere gratitude to those members who participated, helping to make a Christmas dream come true for many children who would otherwise go without this Christmas!

AMCHAM MOLDOVA LAUNCHED THE ETHICS AND COMPLIANCE CLUB


The Club provides a platform for E&C Professionals to share the best practices, on-the-ground implementation strategies, also the review and analysis of legal and regulatory developments of the sector. Club members are encouraged to be part of the events, and meetings, to take an active role in the Club's activity, undertake common projects. The Ethics & Compliance Club is designed to encourage fair and lawful business conduct among AmCham Members and the Moldovan business community. Increasing awareness of the Ethics & Compliance and a company’s obligations as a part of this is one of the key activities of the Club. The Club is also responsible for encouraging companies to make a positive impact through their activities on the business environment, consumers, employees, communities, and stakeholders. The Club’s main objectives are:
- To raise awareness among the business community about the role of consistent compliance with laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical business behavior for strengthening the business environment.
-To discuss proactively with the public institutions on current and upcoming regulations and provide recommendations, where appropriate.

CIVIL CODE TALKS SESSIONS


AmCham has constantly continued to promote and popularize the provisions of the new Civil Code among the legal community.

Lawyers within AmCham member companies had the opportunity to attend two sessions of #CivilCodeTalks, which aimed to serve as a forum for professional discussions on the new provisions of the Civil Code.

During the sessions, Good Faith and Business Judgement Rule as two important legal institutions within the civil legislation were discussed.

COURSE ON CIVIL CODE


AmCham conducted the course on civil code, where participants were informed on the peculiarities of application of the code.
The Code has been considerably reformed, aspiring to be one of the most modern Civil Codes. AmCham Moldova has actively participated in the process of public consultations on the law on modernization of the Civil Code, thus, contributing to the improvement of the regulations regarding the legal person, the pledge, the leasing and insurance contracts, etc.

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE: MANAGING ORGANIZATIONS & PEOPLE IN A CHANGING WORLD

On November 28, AmCham organized the second edition of Human Resources Management Conference: Managing Organizations and People in a Changing World. With 11 speakers from across the region and beyond, the over 200 participants that attended were challenged to rethink and reimagine their approach to Talent Management and Employee Development; with an accent on how the role of managers will evolve into one of leadership. Harnessing management performance to achieve results, future trends in Employee Development and Data use in HR were among several other topics which were discussed in depth at the Conference.

MFI Conference

NON BANK CREDIT ORGANIZATIONS CONFERENCE


On February 11, AmCham Moldova, the European Fund for Southeast Europe and National Commission for Financial Markets hosted the Conference ”Responsible financing – nonbank credit organizations’ perspective”.

The Conference gathered together approximately 150 participants, local actors of the NCO scene, national public authorities, development organizations and investment funds to discuss the importance and impact of the industry in the new regulatory and financial inclusion context.

The key topics tackled within the Conference are (i) the evolution of the non-bank credit sector in light of the new regulatory landscape; (ii) the ways of attracting investments in the domestic industry (iii) evaluation of customers’ creditworthiness and pricing transparency as prerequisites for responsible financing; and (iv) P2P lending as alternative financing models.
