During the event, Marcela Lefter, CEO of Sedera and Chair of the Green Transition Committee within AmCham Moldova, highlighted the country's commitment to achieving carbon emission reduction targets set by European directives. She emphasized that while the transition is currently voluntary, it will soon become obligatory. Marcela encouraged early engagement in these changes, as it will ease adaptation to the new reality.

Mila Malairău, Executive Director of AmCham Moldova, acknowledged the significance of the transition and suggested that local companies could propose and obtain incentives and facilities to enhance the normative framework related to budgetary and fiscal policies.

Irina Apostol, developer of the Energy Management Information System at Green City Lab, mentioned her ongoing work on a database containing the energy efficiency levels of public buildings.

Tatiana Țugui, Executive Director of AO PRO MEDIU, expressed concerns about the slow progress of the green economy transition in Moldova despite limited time for change. She emphasized the need to reconsider the economic cycle, shift towards repairable and renewable products, and move away from a focus on short-lived goods and services.

Ludmila Andronic, Corporate Affairs Director at Efes Moldova, acknowledged that transitioning to the green economy requires significant investments, which can be challenging in the short term but yield economic benefits over time.

The public talk covered several key topics, including the implications of green transformation for businesses, crucial elements of a sustainable business model (such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, waste reduction, and circular economy principles), the benefits of green transformation, obstacles and challenges faced during the transition, obligations imposed by the European Green Deal on governments and companies in neighboring EU countries, and success stories and best practices in implementing green transformation strategies.

This activity was supported by the Future Technologies Activity (FTA), funded by USAID, Sweden and UKaid.
