The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau would like to invite you to attend the annual U.S. Department of State Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), on Thursday, June 27th, from 10:00 to 12:30 at the United States Embassy\'s Information Resource Center.

The meeting will provide an opportunity to learn about OSAC and to hear speakers from a variety of offices here at the Embassy discussing security related topics. OSAC Country Councils currently exist in over 140 cities worldwide--including many countries in the region. Each council is co-chaired by a Regional Security Officer (RSO) at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate and a member of the private sector.

Benefits of OSAC Country Councils include:

1. Opportunities for representatives of businesses and non-governmental organizations to network and share security concerns and best practices.

2. Regular meetings, which serve to inform you about matters of security – from crime and safety awareness to global terrorism concerns.

3. A dedicated web site for the exclusive use of the Country Council that will enable the business and NGO communities to communicate regularly outside of meetings, with informative postings that will keep you up-to-date about security issues.

4. The full benefits of OSAC’s Research and Information Support Center in Washington, D.C., where regional analysts focus on security concerns for representatives of organizations abroad and provide timely security information and coordination.

We also encourage you to visit the OSAC website at www.osac.gov to see for yourself what OSAC has to offer. As this is a government service there is no cost to you, and the benefits include a greater understanding of the security environment and how it affects your organization.

We encourage your organization to consider sending a representative to attend the meeting. Please note that representatives at the meetings do not have to be American citizens. However the organization should be American-affiliated. Also, please keep in mind the presentation will be conducted in English.

The OSAC meeting will be held at the American Information Resource Center in Chisinau, located at 75 Alexei Mateevici Str. on Thursday, June 27th at 10:00. Please register by emailing Maria Javgureanu and Rodica MiDari at JavgureanuMG@state.gov and MidariRT@state.gov by Thursday, June 21st. Please bring valid photo identification and arrive early to allow time to be screened by the guards before the meeting. Cell phones, electronics, handbags and briefcases are not permitted inside.
