The Healthcare Committee members met on February 20th to comment on the draft law on amending and supplementing the Law on pharmaceutical activity no. 1456 dated May 25th 1993 and the Law on Medicines no. 1409 dated January 17th 1994, initiated by Gheorghe Brega, member of the Parliament. Sever proposals of amending the draft were agreed upon and new provisions to include were analyzed by the Committee. As a result, a Committee position paper will be drafted and sent to Parliamentary Commission on Social Protection, Health and Family.

Another topic on Committee’s priority list for the meeting was the Draft Regulation on supplements, proposed for public discussions by the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (MMDA). It was agreed upon the fact that the Draft Regulation does not respect the provisions stated by the European Union in the field. The Ministry of Health as well as the MMDA will be notified about Committee’s position in a letter and follow-up activities.
